Four NATO ships assigned to Standing NATO Mine Counter-Measures Group TWO (SNMCMG2) arrived in Batumi.
Under the command of Captain Ramazan Kesgin, Turkish Navy, the Group includes the flagship TCG A579 Cezayirli Gazi Hasan Pasa and the mine counter-measures vessels
TCG M261 Edremit, SPNS М33 Tambre and RNS M30 SLT. Alexandru Axente. The fifth member of the Group, ITNS M5554 Gaeta, will arrive later in the Black Sea.
Upon conclusion of the visit
ashore, SNMCMG2’s ships will conduct a series of exercises at sea with the Georgian Coast Guard, enhancing their search and rescue, boarding, and tactical maneuvering skill sets, and giving
each other’s Sailors a chance to observe operations aboard one another’s ships, in a cross-pollination exercise.

Reactivation of the Black Sea naval group in 2015 is not expected because of the contradictions between the countries, members of BLACKSEAFOR.
To date, the last BLACKSEFOR activation was carried out in the period from 14 August to 3 September 2013. We remind you that the initiative to create the Group was advanced by Turkey in 1998.
The participants of the negotiation process became six coastal states: Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine. As a result, ten rounds of negotiations that ended in December 2000,
was worked out agreement on the establishment of BLACKSEAFOR. Signed by the heads of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Black Sea countries April 2, 2001 in Istanbul.
Agreement was ratified by all six participating states.

January 3, 1854, for the first time in history, the Black Sea entered the British-French squadron of 31 warships. Squadron followed in the wake of two columns and two groups of ships,
followed the line of wake column.
Left wake column consisting of: steam ship of the line (SSL) Ville de Paris, SL Jupiter, SL Bayard, SL Henry IV, SL Valmy, SL Iena, SSL Friedland, SL Charlemagne. The line of the
Right wake column consisting of: SL Britannia, SL Albion, SL Vengeance, SL London, SL Rodney, SL Bellerophon, SSL Sans-Pareyl, SL Queen, SL Trafalgar, SSL Agamemnon, frigate
(FR) Linder. The line of the column followed: SFR Furious, Tiger, SCor Niger, SFR Samson, SSlp Inflexible, SFR Fayrebrend. All the Britain Navy.

In 2014, French Navy made 9 visits 4 ships. Of the four ships of French Navy reconnaissance ship Dupuy de Lom which entered the Black Sea six times. This is an absolute record for the
number of entries into the Black Sea during the year of non Black Sea countries Navy ship since the adoption of the Montreux Convention in 1936.
Frigate Surcouf approach implemented in the Black Sea twice. The total residence time in the Black Sea French ships of 162 days, while in the ports and naval bases 66 days, including:
Varna – 23, Constanta – 12, Batumi – 26, Trabzon – 5 days. Ports of Ukraine and Russian French ships have not been visited.
The longest time in the Black Sea was a reconnaissance ship Dupuy de Lom – 71 hours.

In 2014, the US Navy carried out 12 visits 7 ships. Of the seven ships USS Vella Gulf which entered the Black Sea three times, USS Mount Whitney, USS Ross and USS Taylor twice.
The total number of days spent in the Black Sea, 180, while in the ports and naval bases 83, including: Varna – 8, Burgas – 6, Constanta – 34, Batumi – 8, Poti – 3, Samsun – 24. Ports of
Ukraine and Russia have not been visited.
Longest time in the Black Sea was USS Taylor – 53 days.
Least of all in the Black Sea was USS Ross – 14 days.
The longest entry in the Black Sea makes the frigate Taylor – 33 days.
US Navy ships took part in the exercise " Breeze – 14" (cruiser "Vella Gulf") and "Sea Breeze – 2014" (destroyer Ross).

In 2014, the Black Sea has been committed 32 sunset 20 warships from 9 countries, including the United States, France, Italy, Great Britain, Greece, Spain, Canada, Poland and Pakistan.
The total time spent ships in the Black Sea was 453 days, in ports and naval bases 177.
Ships visited the following ports: Varna (Bulgaria) – 8, Burgas (Bulgaria) – 10, Constanta (Romania) – 19, Novorossiysk (Russia) – 1, Poti (Georgia) – 1, Batumi (Georgia ) – 8,
For the first time since 2001, the activation of the Black Sea Naval Force did not.
For the first time since 1988, when the destroyer Duprre French Navy was in the Black Sea 22 days, and the second time in postwar history, the frigate Taylor US Navy violated the
provisions of the Montreux Convention. The ship was in the Black Sea 33 days.

USS Taylor arrived in Samsun on 12 February, for a very short port visit just to get refueled. Unfortunately the ships propeller stuck the sea ground and got damaged. She
has been docked at Samsun port since then. 39 US citizens and all the equipment needed for the repair were flown. Divers from Turkish Coast Guard are escorting the
repair work going on underwater. It is estimated that USS Taylor will stay in Samsun till 24 February 2014.
